Smoothies — Goodness In Every Glass

Smoothies are the drink of choice for millions, they’re a cinch to make and packed with good for your body nutrients. Depending on what you throw in them, they can rev up your engine in the a.m., or provide a healthy jolt after a tough workout. Start with any fruits you like, fresh or frozen, some low-fat or non-fat plain or vanilla yogurt — and for a power boost add some protein powder, ground flaxseed (for those all-important omega 3 fatty acids), wheat germ, or chia seeds and you’ll have a blender-ful of nutrients and fiber, which the American Heart Association says is critical for the health of the digestive system and for lowering cholesterol. Drink up!
